How a Grade 10 learner from Soweto became a community environmental champion through our ecotourism programme.
Thabo Mthembu, Grade 10
Environmental Leadership Programme Graduate
When Thabo first joined our Environmental Leadership programme in March 2024, he was a quiet Grade 10 learner with a passion for nature but no clear direction. Today, he leads weekly community clean-up initiatives and has established a school recycling programme that serves as a model for other institutions.
"The programme didn't just teach me about environmental science," Thabo reflects. "It showed me how to turn knowledge into action. Now I see problems in my community and I know I have the tools to make a difference."
